Heat the oil, put in your popcorn kernels, PUT THE LID ON, and when it starts popping, shake the pan so the popped kernels don't burn! When no more kernels are popping, it's done..

there is a special kind of popcorn. that is made to be cook on an stove. it has directions and everything.

you can heat a skillet and pop it on the stove...that's what folks did in the olden days. (aka before the microwave)

Well, the only 3 ways i know without a microwave is---

using a stove,

or

by barbique or a bom-fire!!

yeah put it in a pan and put it on the stove and let it rip. pretty easy

You need a medium sauce pan with lid, oil, and popping kernels... The directions for cooking should be on the bag of popcorn, but if not ........heat the oil (I always use to test by placing one kernel in the oil, if it pops it's ready) Add kernels when hot place lid on top and wait for deliciousness!!!! Don't forget the melted butter...... yummy!

popcorn machine or special popcon and a fire or stove popcrn

You will need a pot with a lid, add a tablespoon of oil and a small amount of butter to the pot, heat and then add the popcorn and close lid, you will hear the popcorn popping after a min or 2 and when the popping slows down turn the stove off and wait about 30 seconds.. remove lid and enjoy...yummm

You need these things

a deep pot like a soup pot with a lid. it doesnt have to be huge, just deep.
vegetable oil
popcorn kernels

cover the bottom of the pan with oil, pour enough in until it covers the bottom adn is about 1/8 inch deep.
put the popcorn kernels into the pan, you need enough so that there is one layer of kernels covering the bottom of the pan.
put the lid on the pan
put the pan on the stove on medium heat
once the popping gets going fast, hold the handle of the pan
with a ovenmit and the lid of the pan with your other hand and hsake the pan back and forth to mix up the kernels and the popped corn so that they don't sit and burn in one spot.
You can stop once there is about 2 seconds in between popping.

Pour the pooped corn into a big bowl (big enough that you can stir the popcorn around without it spilling out)

the pan is still hot, use it to melt some butter. pour the melted butter over the popped corn and mix the popped corn with a big spoon at the same time.
Add salt. stir it up again.

you dont have to add butter, you can get those butter flakes things or just use salt.

*using too many kernels will make the popcorn more likely to burn.

Use a flat bottomed heavy pan with a lid. Helps to know its capacity in quarts.
Heat the pan over a flame that generously touches the bottom of pan.
Pour oil in a small steady stream to cover half the bottom of the pan and put in 5 popcorn kernels in the oil. Place the lid on at a tilt.
When it seems that the 5 kernels have popped, pour a tablespoon of popcorn per quart capacity and place the lid. Shake the pan vigorously to move the oil and corn into level layers.
Very quickly the popcorn will begin popping rapidly. Lower the flame so it just fails to touch the pan's bottom. Shake the pan occasionally. When the popping slows down, remove the pan, but keep the lid on until it stops to avoid blowing the popped corn out of the pot.
In a larger bowl, dump the popcorn and add butter/oleo to the pan, melting it by swirling around (and returning to heat if really cold butter/oleo does not melt quickly.
Shake the bowl and pour the butter/oleo in a thin stream and then shake more an shake some salt on it.
This will pop corn with almost no "grannies" (unpopped kernels). If doing more than one batch, melt the butter/oleo in another pan, return the popping pan to the heat, add the half pan layer of oil and the 5 kernels and repeat the cycle.
Gosh, I think I'll go pop some, made me hungry.

A cast iron skillet with a cover works awesome or just a heavy bottomed stainless steel pan (aluminum will tend to pit). Use 3 tablespoons of oil for a 1/2 cup measure of kernels (directions on my bag of jiffy pop). Heat the oil (butter will burn) and add the kernels. Place the cover on the pan and wait until you hear the first pop. Slide the pan around on the burner so that the popcorn doesn't burn and pops evenly. When you hear the popping slow to a random pop or two, take it off the heat, remove the lid and drizzle melted butter and/or sprinkle with salt. Give it another shake and pour over into a bowl. Enjoy!
