For the girls only.....?
why do us girlys snack especially on sweet things at the time of the month ? x
Answers:
i cant explain that coz im a girl and never crave sweet things at that time of the month. or i might just not have noticed. haha
either way i will be paying extra attention when im on next! LOL
you raised a good question though
a drop in blood sugar
our body is craving the sweet, and the endorphins that get produced at the time. It's all about the hormones, they are lacking something that sweets satisfy.
sweet things have sugars and acids that help make us feel better from cramps, fatigue, etc.
Hormones running mad i guess....
you all snack on sweet things because you are all so bitter wat the time of month
weak
I don't need that excuse, I always fancy a bit of sweetness
usually its because we needa boost of engergy to stop us feeling the discomfort of the stomach pains/cramps.
our bodies need 500 extra calories per day for menstruation, thats why we get the munchies....i dont have a sweet tooth any other time, but find myself craving icecream and maltesers at time of the month! Plus i usually feel down anyway so always cheers me up.x
" that time of the month" what time?... im always munching sweet things!
Yup...it's the drop in blood sugar and the pick-me-up for when you are feeling low.
because we long for something sweet like a GOOD SWEET guy, so the alternative is to go for the sweets!
That is a good question but I do not crave sweets that much, I get the munchies and crave chips. I guess it is salt for me.
Oh and welcome.electrics, you are rude and mean.

I snack on sweet things all month long. But to answer your question, your menstrual cycle has two phases: follicular and luteal. The follicular phase begins on the first day of bleeding. During the early part of this phase, estrogen and progesterone levels are low. The luteal cycle begins after ovulation and lasts about two weeks. During this time, the ovaries increase production of both estrogen and progesterone.
Estrogen may make your cells more receptive, or sensitive, to insulin. That is, more sugar leaves your bloodstream and enters individual cells, causing the level of sugar in your blood to drop. Making you crave sugar.
Blood sugar may also rise or fall because of another issue related to menstruation: premenstrual syndrome (PMS). Some women with PMS experience mood swings, irritability, bloating, lethargy and food cravings. And eating foods containing more carbohydrates and fats ― common PMS cravings ― also can affect blood sugar levels.
i love chocolate but when its that time of the month i never have a ny energy and im ALWAYS craving chocolate it helps me feel better lol
