Does anyone know how to make cocoa powder?!

Question:

Does anyone know how to make cocoa powder?

I want to know how to go from the cocoa bean, just picked, to the cocoa power you bake with. I've looked at how the big companies do it and I would like a way to do it at home with out any speicial equipment. And as long as your answering, any tips on how to grow the cocoa plant?

Answers:
Sounds like something I would do, but I don't know either. (I'm always trying to do everything from scratch... ground up!) I have a magic bullet and it grinds coffee beans really well, but probably anything that grinds coffee would work. Are cocoa beans the same type? Good luck! I'll be checking your answers because I am very interested also!
You could just about grind anything with a lot of elbow grease, but a good product that will do a lot really can be handy!

lol very cute !!! BUT COCOA PLANTS DOTN GROW WELL IN THE US

THEY NEED THE RAINFOREST SURROUNDINGS

as for making cocoa powder, you need a VERY EXPENSIVE roaster to get the beans just right. i dont advise you to make this stuff. just buy the powder. it takes new companies years to figure out the perfect roast to get a great flavor

also when grindin the cocoa bean after it is roasted, they dont grind up well. i have tried this part before. it isnt powdery at all, more that paste!!! THEY USE A SUPER FINE MILL LIKE WHAT THEY USE FOR FLOUR to make the powder

Where do you get Cocoa Beans?
