I would like your ideas for keeping cupcakes cold...?!

Question:

I would like your ideas for keeping cupcakes cold...?

I want to sell cupcakes at craft shows this summer, however, I need an easy-as-possible/convenient way to keep them from melting. Any ideas? Thanks!

put the cupcakes in boxes or tupperware containers- whatever you prefer. place portions of frozen corn or beans in ziploc bags and then in the boxes- some around the edges and some throughout the cupcakes. that will keep them cool because the veggies will melt without melting ON the cupcakes, but still insulate with cool air. plus, you can un- and re-freeze the veggies for multiple uses if you like. or trash them- frozen corn is cheap!

Um... put them in a cooler with some ice.

Put them in your fridge after you make them and switch them to a cooler before leaving. but don't keep them in the cooler the whole time at the craft shows because they will get too cold and they might get hard.

how about placing bags of ice /around the cakes

use an electric cooler u will be able to set whatever temperature u want it,if u cant afford that then use a normal cooler with ice.

If you are not interested in the cooler ideas, have you thought of those gel ice packs that you freeze and re-freeze? You could purchase quite a few, and maybe keep your cupcakes in a box (like a large shirt/robe gift box). This way you could put a layer of the frozen ice packs in the box, lay a handtowel over them, then your tray of cupcakes. You could do several boxes this way. Depending on how many cupcakes you are talking about preparing and selling each day, you probably would have minimal costs. I think at Wal-mart those ice things are about $.97 each. Make sure they are not the hard plastic ones...they are more difficult because they keep their shape.

You could also try freezing bottles of water and doing the same thing with them in the boxes :)

Good luck at the craft show!!!

I would purchase a zippered casserole carrier. They hold up to 3 pyrex dishes (with seal tight lids). The center area could be filled with ice packs. I've used this for many occassions, cold and hot food, works great. Good luck!
