Why on earth is a banana 2 servings of fruit?!

Question:

Why on earth is a banana 2 servings of fruit?

anyone actually only eat 1/2 a banana at a time and finish the other 1/2 latre? Why would God create the perfectly packaged foods(fruits and veggies) and then say, "hmmm....maybe I'll make bananas packaged for couples."

Answers:
because of the larger sized bananas. one serving would be a banana about 4" any larger than that would be two servings. i have used a half later in the day if it is a large one.

sugar content maybe- that rationality is man made- mother nature made the fruit.

It's caloric content that gives banana a "2 serving" status. But I eat the whole thing. Your supposed to have several servings of fruit per day anyway, so why not get a 2 for 1 deal?

i would think that the reason why banana is consider 2 fruit serving is because it contains an extremine amount of potassium, fiber and calcium. also because it does contain alot of natural sugar. so most likely half of a banana , the levels are slightly lower.

A banana is considered two servings because of its higher caloric content as compared to other fruits like apples and oranges, for example. One serving of fruit is generally about 60 calories and a banana is about 120 calories so they consider it to be 2 servings for purposes such as the Diabetic exchange system. Just eat the entire banana and get two servings at once! Or you could also buy the mini bananas that just count for one serving.

Banana is bigger in size than most other fruits therefore you can either share it with someone else or you can enjoy 2 servings of fruit at one time.
