Question:

Im in a debate on deciding if turkey ham includes pork or not? any answers?

my friends has a strong point in saying if turkey ham was not pork it would not carry a pinkish color like mostturkey hams does...if it is actually just turkey how do they turn it that color??

Answers:
Turkey ham is turkey that is 'treated' to make it look and taste like ham ... there is NO PORK in it, it's ALL TURKEY, unless it's LABELED as being 'part chicken' or even 'part pork' ... but I've never SEEN any that was labeled 'part pork' and very little is 'turkey and chicken' ... they get that 'pink' color by adding 'food coloring' to it, not 'real ham' ...

I think that it's just turkey and that the color is from the part of the turkey where a ham shank would be.Mostly dark meat. Or so I would guess.

It is made entirely from turkey and has food coloring to make it have the pink color. It has to be mentioned on the label if it contains any other meat besides turkey. Check the ingredients on the package,

Turkey ham is made out of turkey. No pork. The coloring is an additive.
