What is the difference between grill and barbeque???

The terms are often used interchangeably, but typically when you grill something you cook over HIGH heat for a short period of time (like cooking a steak). When you barbeque something, you cook something over a low heat for a longer time (like ribs, brisket, etc.)

one uses a grill and one uses a barbecue pit, grill is not as dark as BBQ and uses no charcoal.grilled ffood is lighter in color and texture.

Grilled food is cooked quickly over a high heat. Barbeque is cooked slowly over low heat.

Grilling is cooking food directly over heat and in a more rapid fashion. Typically, making Hot Dogs and burgers or a steak on a grill would be "Grilling."

Slow cooking from indirect flame would be BBQ. In the South we used to call it "cooking slow and low."

Nothing. The words barbecue & grill have become interchangeable. The only people that may have a definite definition of both are the people that enter Qing contests. Casual backyard cooks don't really know and could care less...so long as it tastes good. But i did notice this....whether or not someone calls a food item "bbq'd" or "grilled" usually depends on whether or not they put sauce on it.

Grilling normally involves cooking meat (regular or marinated) on the grill.

Barbecuing involves cooking meat on the grill while basting it with sauce...usually BBQ sauce.
