Why does sugar make the growth of yeast accelerate?!

Why does sugar make the growth of yeast accelerate?

it's saying this on the internet but not explianing why....thanks for the help.. science fair


Answers:
sugar is food for the yeast.
Feed them and they will grow.
Simple as that.

Yeast is a single-celled organism and they are hungry little creatures and when you give them sugar they thrive.

Like me I guess, Sugar make me grow too, cause I love it.
Guess it makes the yeast grow because combined they expand too.

Yeast is alive organism and needs food to grow. Sugar is food.
