That the ice in the ice machines at almost all fast food places have more bacteria than your toilet bowl? I just thought that was pretty wierd..

I am not at all surprised by this. The way ice is kept is kinda gross at most restaurants and those ice machines rarely get cleaned.

I think that statement is too general and it could be debated. Most operators who have been in business for a while understand that water that is used in their ice machine needs to be sanitary and not contaminated.
I know the Food Inspections groups look at that issue and will check micro counts if they suspect an issue at the ice machine. They will ask where the water comes from that makes the ice and how ofter do you clean the holding tank.
If you use sanitary water and keep your holding tank clean it will be cleaner than any toilet bow especially since it is frozen prevents many micro's who are not cold loving.
