Is it necessary to refrigerate Olive Oil after opening the bottle?!

Question:

Is it necessary to refrigerate Olive Oil after opening the bottle?

Answers:
good question,
Check this one out:
" Some types of cooking oil benefit from refrigeration, while other types can be safely kept outside of the refrigerator. No oil should be kept near a heat source, like an oven or stovetop, or near central heating vents. Oil can be affected by both light and heat, and over time may become rancid.

The basic rule for storing oil is that oils with higher saturated fat content, such as lard, palm or coconut oil, tend to be fairly stable. These can be stored outside of the refrigerator for longer periods of time. They should be stored in a dark place, not near a window with lots of light, since light can affect the quality of the oil.

Oil with a high polyunsaturated or monounsaturated fat content such as safflower, sunflower, canola or olive oil are much more delicate and should be stored in the refrigerator. Some argue that olive oil is not as useful when refrigerated, since it may become cloudy and may harden. Do not heat the olive oil in a microwave to get it back to a liquid state. Instead, simply allow the olive oil to stand out for a few minutes. When it returns to room temperature it is still in good condition.

Still some tend to prefer not to refrigerate olive oil and claim refrigeration also affects taste. It may be advisable to buy olive oil in small quantities if one tends not to refrigerate it. This will mean the oil is quickly used and runs less risk of becoming rancid. Be certain to store the olive oil in a cool dark cabinet, as this will extend its life."http://www.wisegeek.com/which-cooking-oi...

i thought it was interesting. i never refigrate olive oil personally but i do go through it very quickly. (huge olive oil fan !:))

PS: some oils definitely DO NEED to be refigrated like the more delicate oils such as nut oils (hazelnut, wallnut..)

No. It's an oil and it's not parishable.

No, just as you wouldn't refrigerate any other oil.

Nope! I don't refrigerate mine. If you were to refrigerate it, it would turn into a semi-solid and be a bit tougher to use and measure out next time you needed it.

I wouldn't. It goes cloudy.

I dont I keep on hand
all the time just not too
close to the heat
extra virgin olive oil
only.

Not at all!

If it were necessary, it would say "refrigerate after opening" on the bottle.

No it's the same as vegetable oil. It's non-perishable.

Chilling or freezing olive oil does no harm and the oil will return to its normal consistency when warmed.

The ideal temperature to store olive oil to reduce oxidation but to avoid clouding is around 50 degrees F.

Pantry storage is preferable...nice cool/dark spot is best!

no its suppose 2 be on a shelf.not in refrig.i hope this helps

No just put it in the pantry...

No. I have never heard of anyone ever doing this.

No. It's not necessary. Just replace the enclosure and store in a cool dry place.

No, just put it in a cool dark place and do not be surprised if it layers.
I have seen it in the supermarket and asked about it's cloudiness and was told about that.
The girl (woman) had put them there some time earlier and prior to that they had been in a covered outer place, and we had had a good frost that morning.

Simple, what both RN LD 28 and Tigermoth said, is correct. Especially if you don't use the oil that often. Once you taste an oil that goes rancid you'll never forget it.

no you dont have to.

No, actually if you refrigerate it, the oil make become cloudy.
