What is the difference between jam and jelly?!
What is the difference between jam and jelly?
which one has better taste which is better for you? which one spreads on bread better?
Answers:
Jelly is made with finely strained fruit juice, sugar and geliten. Jam is made with fruit that is not strained and sugar (no geliten)
Jam is made with real fruit peices jelly is just flavored gel
Jam is better for you and spreads better
jam spreads easier and has a stronger taste. Jelly is hard to spread and is more watered down I think.
Yea I prefer Jam over Jelly by a LOT. And it's better for you.
Not a matter of taste.
Jelly is clear
Jam has seeds
and marmalade has the fruit or rind.
Jelly is made from fruit juice while jam has fruit puree (mashed fruit) in it.
Both spread well on bread.
Taste, it depends upon what you like... some people don't like the fruit bits and want jelly.
I prefer jam and I think jam has more flavor.
Better for you... I would think jam since you get a little fiber. Also, I believe the less you process the food the better so I would think jam tops jelly there too.
Jelly, jam and preserves are all made from fruit mixed with sugar and pectin.
The difference between them comes in the form that the fruit takes.
In jelly, the fruit comes in the form of fruit juice.
In jam, the fruit comes in the form of fruit pulp or crushed fruit (it is less stiff than jelly as a result).
jelly is made from the juice of the grape or cherry etc. jam is made from the pulp, or crushed fruit. i personally like jam, it spreads easier and i find it has a more fruity flavor. and it goes on nice and thick and even. hope that helps :)
Jelly is a mixture of fruit juice, pectin and sugar and is clear and firm enough to hold its shape. It contains no fruit pieces at all. Usually spread with a knife.
Jam is made from crushed or chopped fruit with pectin and is softer than jelly but technically still holds a shape. Usually spread with a knife
Preserves are made of small, whole fruits or larger pieces of fruits cooked down in a clear, thick syrup. Usually sprread with a spoon.
Butters are fruit cooked down without pectins then pureed. They have the consistency of a soft butter and are easily spread with a knife or spoon depending on consistency.
The biggest difference is that jam has seeds in it and jelly doesnt. I prefer jelly because I dont like having strawberry seeds in my teeth!
I LIKE BOTH
WELL I THINK EVERYONE ALREADY TOLD U THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN JAM AND JELLY SO I DONT THINK U WANT TO HEAR IT AGAIN BYE
jam is made from whole fruit, Jelly is made from fruit juice only.
