Do you have to wash store bought cherries before you eat them?!

Question:

Do you have to wash store bought cherries before you eat them?

just wondering please answer.

Answers:
Well, to be on the safe side I would wash the cherriess. The reason is; before, I did not think i should wash them , but one day when I was in a local supermarket a guy with a bandage in his finger coughed in his hand and picked a cherrie out of a bag and started feeling it to see if it was fresh. He put it BACK when he was finished, now that's disgusting. You would never know if someone does that or not, so that's why I would rather wash the cherries i buy or any other fruits/vegetables for that matter.

It would probably be a good idea to do so, just to be on the safe side.

It might be a good idea, but I don`t bother washing any fruit. It`s really annoying drying them.

wash ALL produce!! I saw a special on 20/20, you'd be amazed at what filth the produce is around.....like urine, bugs, among other nasty things........
WASH IT AND WASH IT GOOD!!! =)

Any kind of fresh produce you buy in the grocery store should be washed, even if you aren't going to eat the skins. Especially things like melons, wash the outside with soap and water and rinse well before cutting. The cherries should be washed right before you eat them, only wash what you are planning to eat right away.

To answer your question, you need only look around the produce section the next time you buy cherries. How would you feel about it if you knew even ONE of those people had touched your fruit?

I would farmers never wash the produces after they are picked and packaged so their may be sprayed stuff on them.

yes u do
