Does water have a taste?!

Question:

Does water have a taste?

i've heard time and time again that water doesn't have a taste, but if that is the case then how can we detect when we are actually drinking water? when a person for example makes iced tea; they can easily indicate whether or not there is to much water in the mixture. so i would like to hear your opnions on the matter.

Answers:
yes, depending on the source, also depending on who purifies it and whether minerals are added, etc. even some purified water tastes different than others.

Pure water has no taste. Yeah - tea has taste.

I truly believe it does have a taste.

The ratio of water:tea concentrate determines the taste. Water dillutes it as you add more.

no water does not have a taste, it is the minerals , deposits , or contaminants that u r tasting

drink ozoned water. now thats tasteless. its like bleh-y. so yea if you can tell between diff types of water, like tap, spring, boiled, ozoned, purifyed, mineral etc then yea i guess i have to say water DOES have a taste

water (filtered water only nowadays) tastes like fresh

Water does not have a very noticable taste, but, the minerals ect. in the water do give it a flavor.

I think its has a taste. Like if you have a water softener the water tastes awful, so yea water has a very light taste but its there.

water does have a taste cuz i drank tap and spring water just now and they taste different

yes... and they have different tastes... most people disagree with me but i can tell if im not drinking a certain brand of water... i can also taste the difference between the tap water in my kitchen and the tap water in the bathroom.

I'm wondering if we don't "taste" water because we ourselves contain so much, and it is such an everyday part of our lives. If it was possible to go everyday of one's life without it, then try it for the first time, it would probably have some sort of a taste.

It taste like metal to me...I would think it would have mineral taste is how i would describe it.

To me, water definitely has a taste ( and if it's tap water, you KNOW it has a taste. A bad one) My favorite bottled water, Fiji, actually tastes sweet. I've noticed that all of the bottled waters I've had: Arrowhead, Aquafina (ick, tastes like chemicals) Evian, (pricey but good) and some other brands I can't remember right now, ALL have a different flavor/ taste to them. This is an interesting question. I love iced tea, so I can usually tell if it's too weak or too strong, like most everyone. My doctor ALWAYS tells me to drink more water, but I just don't have the money to buy a case of Fiji. You should all try it. It's so good. It's not flavored, but like Evian, it has a clean, sweet taste. But sometimes my body totally craves nothing but water, so I have to resort to tap water, but I put lots of ice cubes in to disguise the taste. I don't know if all of this is making sense to you, but yes, you can definitely tell when you're drinking water. It does definitely have a taste. I lived in England for a year, and the water there was really hard- it tasted like a lot of minerals. Anyway, that's my take on the subject. Hope it helped.

o so you never tried water before?

Water has taste and in the city where I live it's YUCK. Bottled water sells well here.

No. That's why you have to put scotch in it.

no, water doesn't have any taste. of course if you put a lot water in a drink, it will not taste so strong like before, that's why you notice that there is too much water in the drink.

I have always been able to taste water. I have lived and traveled all over the country. Water tastes different. Where I live now the water is undrinkable. Everyone here uses bottled water. (western AZ. in the desert)

You have many different kinds of waters. Hard waters hold minerals or contaminents like lead etc... Well water also holds some minerals or contaminents. These waters do have taste. Then you have alkaline waters where the water was through some filtration system and also has taste.

You taste is aquired when you have adapted to something or have eliminated somthing from your diet. You therefore can detect water taste right away.

In iced tea the water is less moderate if you use powders than the tea bags .....

in all honesty i think water does have taste. There's many different types of water...from well water, to bottled spring water...to mineral water and spritzer water....they each have a certain taste depending on chemicals and cleansing.

yes, tap water does have a chlorine taste and for many years I bought bottled water but have recently just filled a pitcher of tap water and leave it on the counter for the chlorine to evaporate and viola, it ain't bad. I also use this water to dilute orange juice. Good question.

We taste the different levels of mierals and chemicals in the water, thus giving it taste..................... Example taste the difference in spring water and city tap water..... Oh yeah, u'll taste it......

water dont realy have a definate taste but your instincts can let you know weather it does or doesnt.maybe im wrong, actually im not realy shure but hey. you know?

Water doesnt have taste but it has alot of everything else. You can feel the water in your mouth because it has weight. Also, the water I drink is mostly cold, and that gives the sensation. BUT, since water by itself has these qualities(meaning it is pure) you can taste the smallest additive put in it.
I hope you understand, Peace out.

I think it depends on where you live. Our water in South Wales is pretty good. But some places it tastes awful. Pipes and things like that can make it taste awful. But water is cooling to drink and a grreat big myth of the 50s that you have to drink 2 litres a day. Apparently we should drink if we are thirsty. If not then we don't need to. Our bodies judge for us. ah well.. smile.. its what I heard on TV anyway.
