Question:

How many blackbirds?

i am making a blackbird pie.How many blackbirds should i use

Answers:
Sing a song of sixpence a pocket full of rye,
Four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie.
When the pie was opened the birds began to sing,
Oh wasn't that a dainty dish to set before the king?
The king was in his counting house counting out his money,
The queen was in the parlour eating bread and honey
The maid was in the garden hanging out the clothes,
When down came a blackbird and pecked off her nose!

Depends how many you can catch

The song says 4 & 20 black birds. I always wondered what this meant. Does this mean 2 dozen? I theorize it does.

In the nursery rhyme it's four and twenty (24!)

However apparently the nursery rhyme was originally a code and they weren't talking about blackbirds at all, but the number of people involved in some plot or other, so I wouldn't use that as a guide!

24

10 points to Jack B
and a pat on the back.

Should be easy to catch as they are just building nests now ready for laying eggs. I have 2 nesting in my garden if you want them?

24 i think. Four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie..? Enjoy!

24 blackbirds should be used in a pie, lol :- as in the nursery rhyme =
" 4 & 20 blackbirds baked in a pie, when the pie was opened the birds began to sing, wasn't that a dainty dish to set before a King ".

the little ones are the best but then double your number

As many as you can catch.

24 birds and make a hole in the pastry for the steam to escape so it doesn't go soggy.
