Are you Picky with what food you eat? Or do you try anything?!

Question:

Are you Picky with what food you eat? Or do you try anything?

Im not very picky (well except some vegetables, liver and pears YUCK!!!) But when it comes to new things do you try them or turn your nose up at it before youve had a chance to sample it.

Im teaching my son to at least taste something new and then if he doesnt like it then he doesnt have to eat it anymore.

WHAT ARE YOUR VIEWS!

I'm quite picky i like FELIX and my owner sometimes gives me bits of bacon when she has a bacon roll for breakfast.........mmmmm yummy

i will try anything once its the only way to find out what you really like!

i dont like vegtable or fruit but ill try new things always it would get boring if you just ate the samethings every day of your life and never tryed any thing new

I usually try anything edible, but I stay away from pickles or weird food.

You are doing the correct thing by getting to let your son try different things, that way he will have a very varied diet. Good for you

No... I am picky with the foods i eat lol... I don't like ledduce apples, pears, plums, grapes, and blueberries....

I am very picky with certain things I eat, I like to either know the person who has cooked the food extremely well and trust their hygiene or have made it myself, otherwise I get a bit panicky about eating it. I have a few exceptions I am normally ok eating in restaurants as long as they are good ones, I would not eat Lasagna cooked by anyone except me or my Husband period, I don't know why I just wouldn't.

I think your way of teaching you son is great and I do it that way with my son, I also try not to mention the foods that I don't like in front of him so I don't pass my dislikes onto him.

I'm a chef so have to try everything and anything.

i like to think im open minded, so i will try anything but that stops at gross stuff like caviar, liver and stuff. in the georgian times they used to get the blood, liver and heart of an animal, puree it and serve as a soup. ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww...

Our taste bud changes in time . when young i don like bitter gourd etc... but not now . But there are some food eg . shell seafood , intestines , preserves ... bad for health . Never make someone eats anything he doesnt like .

I am terrible with food. I have to know exactly what it is and what is in it before I will even consider it. This is largely due to allergies and being allergic to PORK and most seafood I do have to be careful. Then there are the few things I just can’t stand like garlic.. HATE IT! Once I know what the food item is I will give it a go if I have never tried it before.

I'll give anything a go once - unless it smells really bad!.

The only thing I really don't like is baked beans!!

I will try most things. I went to a wine tasting recently and both frogs legs and snails were on the buffet table. I couldn't bring myself to eat them but most other things.
You cant genuinely say you dont like something if you never tried it

yeah i am pickty with the food i eat i don't eat food that i can't say , i also don't eat food that don't look and smell right. and i want eat steak from anywhere but home

well....if something looks n smells nice i'll try it..but if it looks kinda gross..then i wont...wel depends wat it is...
n thing is..i dont like fish wich is made the indian way with all the spices....but i like english fish..like cod n fillet o' fish...a lyk that sorta fish...iv tried indian fish..but dont like it at all..
so i will try something...n if i dnt like it after that then i wont touch it agen..
i was also not sure about tuna...my mum doesnt like it..but some of my friends do..so i thought i wont know what its like until i try it..so i tried a tuna sandwich...but i didnt like it..i tried to like it...but i didnt..it was too dry n eughkk for me lol...
so at least now i know what its like...

so basically..most of the time i will try something to know what its like..i wont just judge something without trying it!

I try anything. There are very few foods that I won't eat.
I fed my kids a huge variety of food before they turned 2 and they are fantastic eaters now. They need to get used to trying new things early so they like it later.
And for me, I made one dinner, and if they were hungry, they ate it, if not, they didn't. I didn't make special kid food once they were big enough to eat everything, and that seemed to help alot too.

I have to be careful with what I eat. I'm allergic to tree nuts and eggplant, so that cuts out most Greek food and lots of Middle Eastern food. After asking the question I must ask (Does this have tree nuts or eggplant?), I'm fairly open to new foods. I believe that, barring any food allergies or sensitivities, a child should be encouraged to try new foods.

I think it is good to have him try lots of foods. I am 23 and I am the pickiest eater...I rarely try something new.

I mean I do not like--macaroni n cheese, hot dogs, pasta or any Italian dish, mexican foods, majority of cold cuts, cake, pie. I have string beans as my vegetable every single night. Luckily, the foods I do like ...I love so I never get sick of them. I just wish I was more open to trying new foods.

I am fussy with meats I would never eat horse or anything like they were doing on Gordon Ramseys f word. I know what I like and tend to stick to it really but as I get older I find I like things that I used to hate. So I pretty boring with food. What your doing with your son sounds brilliant.

As long as it's meatless, I'll try anything at least once. Life is too short to be picky...especially with all the people in the world who don't have a choice because they don't even have food.
God has blesses us so much with diverse food and he has also blessed us with great access to them. To me, it's pointless to be a food snob.

i like to try new things. you never know.

I am picky, i don't like Uk meat, i eat the chicken only if it is properly plucked. Don't like veggies much and i refuse to eat in restaurants, specially now that i see how many times they lick a spoon and stick it back into their pots, Yuggghieee.

No and Yes.

I will try any thing as long as it doesn't eat me first. I had a professor once ask the class if they would try horse if he brought some in. I was the only one that said yes. I wouldn't eat it routinely, but I would try it. I knot that's gross, but you don't know what something is like until you try it. I think raw oysters look disturbing, but they taste great! I do want to know what it is first, though. The only things I've found I don't like are: beets, radishes, asparagus, and amberjack fish.

i think i would taste it first.. then if i don't like then.. i won't eat it anymore.. I also don't like liver even if i have eaten it once or twice.. but i would like to taste everything once, so i will know what foods i will not eat anymore.. and I'm not rally allergic to any kind of food, so i think it's just fine...

Variety is the spice of life

I avoid meats, and most animal products, but beyond that I search out different foods. I figure if something is considered a delicacy somewhere on this earth, by someone, than it has to be worth trying.
I am constantly amazed at the way some people won't even try something new.

ill try anything once but they say try to get you children to try the same thing every once in a while their taste buds change and sometimes they end up likeing it

Glad to hear you're getting your son to taste everything. You could say I'm a picky eater as I won't try or eat anything with herbs and spices as they give me terrible indigestion.

I like most food and put it down to never being forced to eat things as a child. My Husband is very picky and he was forced as a child. I have one dislike a soft egg placed on spinach.UGGGGG. You seem to have got the right attitude towards your son and food.Bravo.
