How do you make green beans taste better without adding alot of calories?
Answers:
cook them up in balsamic vinegar, or have it cold with it. sautee them with onions and peppers, garlic is amazing on green beans too. plus salt and pepper.
put like a teaspoon of olive oil in a pan with some chopped garlic and let them sweat out a little, then add the green beans and cook for a while. its so good!
non fat margarine salt and pepper
Unsalted butter and GARLIC does it for me... especially the garlic... it can be powder, minced, or fresh (chopped)...
Mrs. Dash works on everything, no calories and no salt.
I agree, Garlic. In any form really but I like Garlic Powder and then add some pepper.
Definatly garlic and onions. You can use any form of either and it works. I also like a can of stewed tomatoes added. And not healthy but...Bacon!! Yummmy! You can use cubed turkey ham if you want.
Add a little Extra Virgin Olive Oil, a little Salt and Pepper, Onions, Garlic and Smoked Turkey Necks. Delicious.
An italian seasoning.
use flour and half of the bean juice and make a thickening agent out of them open the beans if you are using a 15oz can --take a tablespoon of flour and mix it with half of the juice---use the other half to heat them in---then when hot stir in the flour mixture and heat till the sauce has thickened to your like
steam them (to kip the flavors intact) and lightly stir fry with mushrooms and oyster sauce.
do not add salt coz oyster sauce gives you all the flavor you need
its healthy! try it, u wil love it!
just 3 drops of olive oil will do..
you can add, garlic, sweet peppers and onion (these two latter ideal for a bean salad, you add them raw, chopped and taste great). chopped raw celery
about seasoning, you can add curry powder(sweet ones), paprika, coriander, cardamom, pepper of course, salt, garlic salt if you have, celery salt, oregano, dill, honey, mustard, barbacue sauce, ketchup, etc.
Put about a tablespoon of olive oil in a pan,
get the pan very warm but don't burn the oil because it is delicate. Add 1/4 onion chopped and cook them till tender and translucent. Add about 1/2 lb of fresh green beans and toss to coat them. Lower the heat and cook covered till tender.
mrs dash and/or onion (onion powder)
you can also add like a teaspoon or so of bacon bits
Fresh lemon juice and lots of black pepper.
I add well-cooked bacon and fresh ground pepper. As long as the bacon is cooked until crisp, well-drained, and crumbled in (as opposed to big greasy strips) it won't add that many calories but will add a lot of flavor. Another option is chopped lowfat ham- haven't tried it with turkey ham but that would have fewer calories.
Something cheap and easy I like to use is I CAN,T BELIEVE ITS NOT BUTTER garlic spray there are no calories in it and I add seasoning salt and pepper.
i like to saute mine in a little butter and onions yummy!
If you are using frozen, this is the recipe I recommend.
Syrian Green Beans with Olive Oil
1 (16 ounce) package frozen cut green beans
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
salt to taste
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
Place the green beans into a large pot, and drizzle with olive oil. Season with salt to taste, and put the lid on the pot. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until beans are cooked to your desired doneness. The idea is not to sauté them, but to let them steam in the moisture released by the ice crystals. Add cilantro and garlic to the beans, and continue to cook just until the cilantro has started to wilt. Serves 4.
