I need an indoor grill. Any recommendations?
I need it today so I can't buy it online. It is for cooking steaks. My little George Foreman just doesn't cut it. Everything comes out tough.
Answers:
get a Hamilton Beach griddle. i have one, and it works just as good as a grill does. it's easy to use, and easy to clean.
be careful when making hamburgers, as the grease will splatter every where.
The trick with the George Foreman is to way undercook things. They cook so fast that when you take them off the grill they continue to cook at a rapid rate. If you take it off the grill when you think it's JUST done...then you've overcooked it. Try taking it off when it's still really red....we've had some GREAT steaks on the george foreman. Salt, pepper and season them before you cook them. The McCormicks Grill mates seasonings are wonderful. Good luck. :)
go with a tennis ball
If you're going to be grilling indoors, you'll either have to get a stove top grill/griddle, or go with something (free-standing)electric.
The stove top grills are just rectangular plates, usually made from anodized aluminum or cast iron, that fit over two of the burners on your stove. Often, the top has raised grill grates, and the "flip side" is a flat griddle.
The freestanding ones are basically the same as your George Foreman, only larger, and may or may not have a flip-down lid (like the G. Foreman).
The problem in either case is that there will be smoke! It's not a particular health hazard, like if you'd used charcoal indoors, but it will make your house reek of smoke unless you're well-ventilated.
Also, the electric models use LOTS of electricity...if you have the electric grill plugged into the same outlet as another appliance, and you try to use both machines at once, you'll probably blow a fuse or trip a circuit breaker.
Try this one. You can get it Linens and Things.
