Can you eat pepper seeds?!

Question:

Can you eat pepper seeds?

I know this is a strange question, but can you eat pepper seeds? I was cutting some peppers today and always push the seeds aside. I thought "what a waste if I could eat them!" I asked my partner and he said no you can't. Any chefs out there know the truth? Am I going to posion myself with pepper seeds, or increase the tastiness of my food!!

Answers:
you can eat chilli pepper seeds no problems but they are much spicier than the flesh of the pepper If you are talking about capsicums (bell peppers) its best not to eat the seeds as they are bitter so dont really go well in foods thats why you just use the flesh

Yes you can, but many chefs leave them out due to their hottness.

=]

yea but they are spicy

YOu can eat pepper seeds, they will not hurt you, at least they've never hurt me. When I make pepper jelly I leave them in, when I boil peppers for sauce I leave in the seeds so...

You can.......but why?

Well, I use some of the pepper seeds from green peppers. It makes the dish pop a little more and gives it a fresher taste. Also, seeds add fiber.

I eat them all the time, the hotter the pepper the better! It increases your sex drive! WHOA!

I can't but you can.

yes you can but people with dentures or any braces have trouble with them

Both my parents are professional chefs, I'm not a pro but I cook a lot, and I've always used the seeds, I'm not dead yet! Also, I'm pretty sure that's the stuff they use on the top of pizza sometimes.

Yeah, you can eat pepper seeds. If you're talking about chili peppers, they do make what you're eating more spicy, but none are toxic

the seeds are the spiciest / hottest part of any pepper. so, if you're a hot mama, then eat those seeds! yummy! :)

yup...that's what crushed chilli is actually made of

U can but they will *** out u the same way they went in!!!

yes, they're great. they make the dish spicier. you can even save hot pepper seeds and dry them yourself to eat year round.

Pepper seeds are hoter then pepper , therefore people avoid them. Eat them they are good.

They are peppercorns, they are usually used for seasoning meat. Otherwise you want to stick with the regular ground pepper. Sometimes you can use them to flavor oil when you are making an Eastern-style (like indian or chinese) dish. It's safe to eat them, but will be too intense for most western style cooking.

yes i eat the pepper the seeds pepper sauce ,i love
habaneros

i was always told no. so i make sure they all go in the bin. don't know if they are hot, never tried it, but they must be, plenty people said so.

they just make your dish a little hotter and add a little texture

umm... i have no clue!!! sry!!! but that was 2 pts... rite there!! lol im an idiot!

They are not poisonous, they are just not very tasty. I have left them in before and they don't add anything to a dish. In some kinds of pepper they are spicy but usually only in hot peppers.

Jalepenoes you can, that's where the heat is but i wouldn't eat bell peppers seeds. You didn't say what kind of pepper.
