HOW do I peel Kiwis and Mangoes? (without mushing or destroying the fruit)?
Answers:
MANGO.....cut a whole side with peel still on right down to the seed the entire side then do same to other side discard pit.....now with a knife cut lines on that side of mango down to the peel but not through then again across like squares when you flip that side with 2 fingers on each end the squares pop out you can just eat them that way no mess
KIWI.....i start at the tip cut around it with fingers holding kiwi at bottom by the time you have peeled down to the supporting fingers u have 1 last strip to do...no messy fingers
Just use a really sharp paring knife. They peel pretty easily if your knife is sharp enough.
a sharp potato peeler also works on a kiwi fruit.
What is always do is use a really sharp knife and cut off the outside - - they "peel" nicely that way.
I cut them into pieces and then peel the skin off from the edge of each piece as I eat it =good luck
Its much easier to slice them as you would an orange, an eat them out of the peel.
What ever you do DO NOT USE A PEELER use a sharp knife because you have to hold the Kiwi and Mangoes very hard to peel it and it will just mush. trust me.
Kiwi - I just eat them like a boiled egg - cut the top off and dig in with a little spoon!
Mango - the stone inside is flat. Cut mango in 3 lengthwise with the flat stone in the middle section which is discarded. For each "outer section" - deeply score the orange flesh in one direction so there are about 4 stripes. Then score across these stripes so you have made little cube shapes. Then get a big spoon in behind the wee cubes and scoop them out so they fall into your bowl nice and neat.
Aaaaaa, I've just read that and it sounds completely bonkers! Well, I've just spent 5 minutes of my life trying to describe it so you might as well have a go. Or is it not on YouTube or something!??
Haaa!
Kiwis.
The Bird. It is illegal to catch, cook and peel
The Males. Catch one and peel him like you would any other bloke.
The Fruit. Top and tail and using a sharp knife, cut through the skin from top to bottom, and peel back like you would layers of an onion.
Much will depend on how ripe they are, as they peel differently.
Look out for the new breed Golden Kiwi Fruit.
I've got a good small sharp vege knife, and I slice the 2 ends off the kiwifruit, so they are flat, then I sit the fruit on one flat end and slice the outside peel off in strips. Its quick and easy and not messy. I imagine mango would be the same.
Use a fruit paring knife to peel mangoes and kiwis.
