What's the difference between a bacon joint and a ham?!
What's the difference between a bacon joint and a ham?
Also, why can't you get ham hocks in England in the supermarket at any time except Christmas?? Even then they're over £15 each!!!
Answers:
Bacon joints include:
Collar bacon is taken from the back of a pig near the head.
Hock, from the hog ankle joint between the ham and the foot.
Gammon, from the hind leg, traditionally "Wiltshire cured" and rolled into a joint.
i know where your coming from the prices of bacon or ham joints are ridiculous its some times cheaper to eat best steak....
ham is older
Never herd of bacon called joint as it is fatback or side pork. Then you Brits do use strange names for many trhings.
The reason for the high prices is the fact that the uk is unable to even begin to produce enough food to feed its people. What they do produce is subsadised so much that the farmers get the bigest chunk of your tax money. Just think what it would cost if you had to pay the full bill when you bought.
So much of what you eat is imported and so many times wspecialy the UK make it very difficult for those sending good to youl That drives the prices up and you are the ones that have to pay.
