Is mince meat off?!

Question:

Is mince meat off?

Its in date but is not red anymore its gone darker?

Answers:
If it smells ok then use it,,Meat will always darken with age,a side of beef when freshly killed is red, leave it ror a few days "hanging" and it will darken off, most beef these days is just a few days old before it goes to the shops,40 years ago most beef was left to hang for anything up to 12 weeks to mature.
So in answer to your question if it smells ok then it will be ok to use as any cooking above 72 degs for more than 5 mins will kill of any bacteriors and most toxins

Well, if it's still in date, check to see if it still smells fresh, if it stinks, bin it!!

i personally wouldn't want to especially if it smells vinegary but i am funny about meat! x

this is perfectly ok.

in the bin my friend......................

why take the risk bin it and get some new stuff.

I don't use it when it changes colour it just put me off. it happened to me last week so i was going to fry it up for the dog. but my fiance was worried in case it made the dog sick so i was about to bin it. when his friend said he would eat it. he said its was perfectly fine and took it home. so i suppose its up to u?

he red colour is from added dye for eye appeal. If exposed to air, or if there was too much water added to boost the weight, it can settle out. If it doesn't smell sour, it is fine. Remember, it isn't red meat that is bad for you, it is fuzzy meat with purple and green splotches.

Meat does this when the blood drains out!
Its like cured meat and people pay good money for that!
Fry it in a pan with some garlic butter it will taste delicious!

no no no no`it luvly`senorita`if u no lika`give to su cat`

I dont know but it tastes a lot like smooshed up raisen, it's quite tangy. reminds me of a sort of condensed chutney

If you dig below the surface, it'll probably be bright red still. It's just the effect of air on the top. It'll be fine if you've kept it at the proper temperature since you bought it.

No it is fine well as long as it is in date and does not smell i would eat it! It also does this if you have frozen and take it out.
