What does an artichoke taste like?!

Question:

What does an artichoke taste like?

Just wonderin what kind of vegetable I could compare it with.

Answers:
Has it's own taste, but it's something like asparagus.

Yummy steamed and served with melted garlic butter.

Artichokes are pretty unique. The closest thing to an artichoke heart is probably a Heart of Palm. But, something tells me that if you've never tasted an artichoke, you've never tasted a Heart of Palm. *shrug*

When steamed the heart and the flesh you pull off the leaves kind of have the texture of avacado to me. The flavor to me reminds me of asparagus, only not as strong.

When they're pickled, they're more firm.

the heart kinda tastes like corn to me. doesn't look or feel like it tho.

Chicken.

tastes good - try it

remember the old little rascals bit where spanky won't eat the artichoke - "If it choked Arty, it ain't gonna choke me"
