Is it cheaper to buy lunch at work or carry a sack lunch?!

Question:

Is it cheaper to buy lunch at work or carry a sack lunch?

I work in a hospital and we have an option to buy lunch in the cafeteria and payroll deduct it, or carry lunch to work. I usually get the daily special at work and it cost $3.50. This includes a 12 ounce beverage and usually something like a sandwich and fries. If I carry lunch to work, sometimes it gets stolen or sometimes I am in a rush and carry in something like some yogurt and a bananna or some pudding. and a frozen Smart One. When I work 12 hours, I get really hungry at the end of the day, and end up going down for a snack in the cafeteria anyways- usually something like a serving of mashed potato's or some kind of a fruit cup or ice cream. It seems like if I eat a bough lunch from work, I am not as hungry and less likely to snack later on in the evening.
What do you think the best deal for me is?

The 12 oz beverage can be milk, 3 different kinds of juice, pop, coffee, tea, water. Its up to you what you put in the 12 oz cup. I usually get orange juice or iced tea.

You should either buy at work or definitely work on making better lunch decisions and planning ahead if you are going to be packing your lunch. If you pack your lunch, pack plenty of healthy snacks through the day, and enjoy them on your breaks to cut back on cravings.

However, since you work in a hospital, it seems that you should be able to find some health choices in the cafeteria, and it doesn't sound very expensive. If these meals are filling you up better, they may by far be the better choice.

you should buy it at work becuase it fills u up.

Buy ur lunch =]

Shop for the week to bring your lunch! If you buy all your food at once it's a lot cheaper! you can bring a bigger lunch and would still be cheaper. bring enough to fill you up! I bring my lunch to work with at least one fruit one sandwich a granola bar a bag of chips or cheese itz and crackers! it fills me up and i eat a lot!

If you have access to a microwave and a refrigerator, your best bet would be to carry in leftovers from home and heat them up. Of course, if you are working 12-hour shifts, you may not be doing a whole lot of cooking at home.

I would be careful about getting fries with lunch on a regular basis. Not the healthiest way to get your veggies. Also, if the 12-ounce beverage is a soda with sugar or corn syrup, you are getting empty calories with little nutritional benefit. If it is a diet soda, you still get little nutritional benefit and not even any calories for energy.

I used to work at a hospital, and would sometimes hit the cafeteria. Get a salad or a whole-grain sandwich with lots of veggies, with milk or water to drink.

I think dat its easier and sheeper to carry ur bag of lunch. Because some of the stuff they sell at the streets sometimes is not good and might get u sick anyways.

why don't u split the days always keep ur options open at the beginning of the week brings your lunch make a lunch for your last day at the same time. and give yourself at least 2 days off from the stress of trying to figure out what you are going to eat . being over worked and tired can leave you feeling empty no matter how much you eat

That sounds like a reasonable lunch price, but food from home could be more nutritious and probably would be cheaper in the long run.

i would usually say pack lunch...but sometimes, if that's not satisfying and you spend money for a snack later...or lunches get stolen, etc- buying might be a better idea.

try to plan better lunches- pack them the night before- take leftovers from dinner or something you can look forward to- it will almost always cost less than buying something.

bring your lunch.you can bring a bigger lunch and would it is cheaper. bring enough to fill you up!
