Why do hot dogs come in packages of 12 and hot dog buns come in packages of 8?!

Question:

Why do hot dogs come in packages of 12 and hot dog buns come in packages of 8?

Other than the marketing scheme.

Answers:
That's a damn good question!!!
I applaud you for asking it!

It depends where you live. Some times frankfurters are in packages of 10, and in the USA there are fatter ones sold in packages of 8. Standard packages of dogs are sold by weight, either 500grams or 1lb.

Because they figure at least 4 of the hot dogs will either burn or fall off the BBQ and get dirty?

Maybe the hot dog companies and the hot dog bun companies teamed up and talked about putting 8 buns in a pack and 12 hot dogs in a pack so that more people would buy the buns.

Okay maybe not...I just took a guess.

Because there is a 1 in 3 chance you will drop your hot dog into the fire.

All praises unto Jah. I greet you. To answer your question, They wish for people to spend more money. The more you spend on there things the better there pockets look at the end of the year.

If you're going to complain-buy OM & Wonder.

Oscar Meyer weiners come in a package of 8 and Wonder Bread comes in a pack of 8 buns.

Problem solved. Perfect Match!

Just marketing. That way you have to buy two packages of hot dogs, and three packages of buns to get a balanced set.

However, recently I have noticed that buns are coming in 12s too.

It is the marketing scheme. Unless it's because it takes 12 of your weiners to make a pound. Oscar Mayer come in pkgs of ten, and each package is a pound.
