What are Tamalitos?!

Question:

What are Tamalitos?

I recived a box from a friend who lives in texas, and i live in New York, well anyways, she sent me tamalitos, which i have no idea how to prepare, i'm not sure if they are even prepared, even though they say candy, and they are from the Mi Costenita.

Answers:
They are similar to tomatoes, but are actually not related to them. They are good in salsas and other tomato type dishes!

they are like tomatoes cooked used to make salsa

Tamalito is a typical dish of the Amazonas Region in Peru. Its appearance is similar to the tamales from the coast, but they are drier and smaller.

Candy - that doesn't sound right.

Tamalitos are little finger food tamales and should have a meat filling inside a masa (corn meal paste) and wrapped with a corn husk. If this is what you have ... they should be steamed.

This is not to be confused with tomatilos which are a fruit that looks like a green tomato and is used in Mexican cooking like a tomato but is really a type of squash if I'm not mistaken.

Neither of those things is anything like Candy however.
