Frozen meals?!

Question:

Frozen meals?

does anyone know how long you can keep a meal frozen for if it has no preservatives?

how do the big manufacturing companies work out a USE BY DATE ????

Answers:
They have a use by date because its a law by the FDA. Typically you can use a product way far away from the use by date, including milk-if its kept cold. Cream lasts way longer than milk. But TV dinners don't last in the frig long. Like I'll go buy a bunch because they are on sale, only to have room only for a small few in the freezer, so I refrigerate the rest. And if not used in 2 days they rot and its a few trips to the toilet.

As long as you dont defrost it, you can keep it frozen for as long as you want. The only thing is it probably wont taste as good or have much nutritional value after about 6 months.

forever!!! no idea about the use by date... I'm guessing that's when the ingredients inside the product goes bad? i.e. if it contains some type of milk ingredient.

What you are looking for is frostbite- Once allot of ice crystals form on your frozen food it will really turn the flavor of your food. The less air to your food the longer it will last. I have a food vacuum sealer, it claims that it will keep frozen meat 8 years. Vegetables 2 years.

You can usually keep frozen foods for six months in your frozen. I only keep things in my freezer for six months.
