Question:

Anyone ever heard of or tried Violet candy?

I found these candies online and was wondering if anyone had tried them? Here is the link if you want to look. http://www.chowardcompany.com

I've had those before! My mom brought those home from her job a few years ago and she gave some to me. They're actualy pretty good.

Sorry no I haven't, but they look interesting.
Thought you were talking about Violet Crumble which is beyond ordinary yummy.

I tried them before they're tasty

When I was a teen, I used to buy the gum. It was very strange. It has an odd scent that I liked; I didn't actually buy it to eat, I just liked the smell.

I am 50 and they were a big treat in the middle 1960s.
Square candy in a foil wrapper, silver and purple.
Well as with all kids. I ate so many one time. Got so sick. Never or would never eat one again. It was like eating soap.

Thanks for the memory

Yes, it tastes and smells like perfume

They do taste like perfume, I think you either love them or hate them. Here in the UK I think most of us have tried Swizzels Parma Violets growing up which are smaller than the ones on that site. Apparently the flavour is literally Violet like the plant - another popular floral flavour for candy is of course Rose.

Personally the lemon ones look yummier to me, but you won't know until you try!

My family used to eat them all the time. I mean packs and packs of this stuff.

they do taste like perfume. and you definitely wont like them. of course, that is unless you have that acquired taste for them. try spraying a tid bit of perfume on your hand and tasting it.

My mom used to have them in a small porcelin dish when I was growing up. I always thought they were to beautiful to eat but they are a great way to decorate a cake!

I tried the Violet candy and HATED it. To me it tasted like someone had sprayed perfume in my mouth.

I still love them. The lemon flavor is very good too. But violets are the best. Never did understand the flavor only that I love it. It will definately curb bad breath too. oh they make peppermint and wintergreen also. They are pretty hard for me to find now, but in New York they have all the flavors.
