Can anyone tell me what this means?!

Question:

Can anyone tell me what this means?

What does it mean when a recipe asks for 1 tab of yeast?

Answers:
That's likely an abbreviation for "Tablespoon".

1 tablet ?? you can buy it in tablet form

you can get yeast in little packets so that is what that means a tab would be one packet.

When you buy yeast at the grocery store, it is in a package called a tab. Use one of them.

it might mean 1 tablespoon of yeast

I think that a tab of yeast is one packet. Usually you buy yeast in a pack of 3 and I think that one packet is called a tab in 'chef talk'.

yeast comes in little packets or in tablets like a bullion cube. you need to know what the recipe wants you do do with the yeast before you start. sometimes you have to proof it. Mix with warm milk or liquid till it bubbles. i don't know what your making so its hard to advise. Just check your recipe.

1 Yeast Packet = 1/4 oz package = 2 1/4 teaspoons Active Dry Yeast

1 Cake (non standard unit of measure) of Compressed Yeast = Typically 2 ounces Active Dry Yeast = 2 teaspoons of Active Dry Yeast

A table spoon of yeast....or a tablet....
