Why do people eat coughdrops even when they're not sick?!

Question:

Why do people eat coughdrops even when they're not sick?

It tastes bad, so why.

Answers:
The active ingredient in coughdrops is a mild topical anethetic that calms down the "tickle" in the throat that triggers coughing. Maybe some people like that slightly numbing feeling in their mouth, especially people trying to overcome oral fixation habits such as smoking or nervous eating.

Some people just eat them because they think it will prevent them from getting sick. It won't necessarily do that, but if you have a small cough or small cold, it will prevent it from getting any bigger and stop it from getting worse. Other people just eat them as if they are candy. That is because they are healthy for you but it still does not mean a person should eat them too much!

Cough drops usually have medicine in them, and medicine is addictive.

Plus, I happen to like the taste of cough drops.

some people like the taste
