Should I make Red Velvet cupcakes for the group?!

Question:

Should I make Red Velvet cupcakes for the group?

I have a Bible study group coming up and I have to bring the snack. My family loves my Red Velvet cake, but I don't if others will. I'm thinking of making it into cupcakes. But these folks are Northerners! Should I make them? Or might the red freak 'em out?

Well, I made them but they didn't like them! I'm not sure why though. The kids thought they tasted weird. The adults SAID they were good, but I don't believe them - they only had one mini cupcake each... At least I still like them. I love them!

I agree- If you are worried about it, make 2 varieties...But I think they will like them! use a complimentary frosting such as creamy whipped vanilla, almond buttercream or cream cheese to top them off and they won't be able to resist!

I also agree with a poster above though- you may want to precursor the indulgence by being candid and letting them know that sometimes red velvet cake "tints" the contents of your tummy which can make for an interesting experience later on ;-)

Definitely Yes! I'm a Northerner & love Red Velvet cake. What's not to love?

Why not? I'm a Northerner and I adore Red Velvet. I just wish that the first time I tried it, someone had told me that the red can make another appearance at the end of your digestive cycle as well. :(

make both make everybody happy red cake 4 me cup cake 4 you.
life is short do your thing good luck

I think you should make them! Most people find that they like red velvet cakes, even if the red color does startle them a bit.

Make them and share them with the group, they are cup cake and every body loves cup cakes. If you are really worried make another kind to take also, then you have covered those who don't like red velvet. Good Luck and God Bless!

I'm from the north, and even though red velvet cake is apparently "souther cuisine" we defiantly know what it is, hah. And yes, we make it up here too. Serve them with cream cheese frosting, thats how I love it the most.

You should only make them if you can tell me what FLAVOR red velvet is. This is a trick answer as if you think about it red velvet has no flavor. Yes it's moist. Yes the cream cheese frosting has lots of flavor. But red velvet itself...nothing.

Go for it! Why not? Who's going to say no to delicious cup cakes...? Use Cream Cheese icing!! Yum!!
