Avoid spicy foods and acidic foods and beverages, like anything tomato or citrus-based.

Some foods that might help soothe your sore throat are broths, soups, apple sauce, cooked cereal, mashed potatoes, soft fruits, yogurt and soft-cooked eggs.

You can puree foods in the blender to make them easier to swallow.

Frozen foods like sherbet, frozen yogurt or popsicles might also make your throat feel better.

anything that is not soft because it will eritate your throat

Anything that could scratch your throat. Many citrus foods could irritate it too.

Anything that would hurt going down.

Try eating some ice cream, that eases the pain sometime, or on the other end of the temperature scale, some chicken soup, just the stock if it hurts very bad.

For a home remedy, if you have a sore throat warn some honey with a bit of lemon juice in it and sip spoonfuls of it. It's good in hot tea as well.
