Can we trust them an inch?!

Question:

Can we trust them an inch?

In Sainsburys and noticed that all the special offer three pork chop packs had suffered destruction of the labels. exposing the fact that the label was disguising an inferior, fat laden chop alongside two good ones. Someone had spotted this and to warn customers, had ripped off the labels on every pack, revealing the dirty trick was being played on all the packs.

Answers:
I wouldnt trust them anymore.

Well done, to whoever ripped the labels off otherwise you wouldnt have known - but was it Sainsbury's who did it to keep their good name????

I've noticed that, too. Tesco's are guilty of it as well.

the only person you can trust these days is yourself.. !!..xx

ok....how did you stumble pon this information? i mean it sounds like crap i think sainsburys is cool its no M&S but it's cool and how would that prson know about the dodgy pork chop?

Tesco do it as well, particularly with fillet steak, and not on special offer. One gorgeous mouth-watering piece on view and one awful fatty, gristly piece under the label. I rip the label to see what I'm getting before buying, perhaps someone else did it in Sainsbury's and rejected all the inferior ones.

welcome to the light! i too was a supermarket meat buyer but then i found the truth by simply going to the market butchers! i never buy meat from the supermarket anymore! you get a far better cut and quality from the butcher and more for your money than you could in 10 years of buying meat at the supermarket!! but there again again we are victims of our our own demise! thats what we asked for, thats what we got! convinence! BUT NO MORE I SAY! get back to your butcher! even if you buy in bulk its all freezeable just plan ahead!

i wouldn't trust them.

they all do that- if you buy a bag of oranges rather than pick them yourself, the you can pretty much guarantee that there are a couple of rotten ones in there too

BBC Watchdog would love to use this as an item. You shold give them a call. Take photos next time when you see it.

I can say I have never seen it happen here. The Meat is packed and put out and the day before its best by date the meat is clearly marked down.
I go there daily and at the right time have watched them do it, a special sticker is place near the original label and by hand a new price is put on.

At two other supermarkets they go back and a label is placed over the old. Though it is marked as a Butchers Special it may be overlooked.
If I had been there, I would have challenged them. Remember that they have a reputation to maintain and by calling attention to a particular store, you are harming their reputation on a forum where they can not offer a rebuttal.
Even here in New Zealand, Sainsbury's has a good reputation.

Man that's clever, nice one Sainsburys. I don't eat pork, so I couldn't give a flying f*ck.

trust them an in but distrust them a mile.

so returns the butchers thumb!
