Are peaches bad for you? (arsenic in pits)?
someone told me the pits have arsenic in them and it leaches into the fruit. lets say i eat 3 peaches per day while theyre in season, i was told that i wouldnt die from the arsenic, but it would effect me, kind of like a lead in my system.
is this true? it really irritated me. the person who told me this wasnt really a nice person to begin with. i think she had an eating disorder on top of it. she used to say awful things about my food all the time. she was someone i worked with.
thanks for your help.

Cyanide is found in apple, cherry, peach and apricot seeds....the rest of the info is here (so as not to alarm yourself too much...):

I hope this answers your question...somewhat disturbing, but true, it seems!
I doubt that its true, no offence to the person who told you that.

Say what, hum, well i might be full of arsenic then. eating disorder and awful person, well, not nice, shame on her. as to the arsenic in the pits, well i dont eat the pits, just the nice sweet juicy yum yums on the out side
no
only if you ground up the pits and eat that.... enjoy your peaches!
This is the first I have heard about arsenic in peach pits. Apple seeds do have arsenic in them, but only in trace amounts. If you are going to eat a dozen or so apples a day it might be a good idea to remove the seeds first. Happy eating.
