Why do peas always freeze in big clumps even when laid flat in freezer?!

Question:

Why do peas always freeze in big clumps even when laid flat in freezer?

Answers:
Ice crystals form and join together. Just bang the bag really good on the counter when ready to use.

because peas are so small when you open the freezer or you freezer may stay cool. they are always defrosting or I should say build up condensation, but obviously not alot well it makes water then gets cold again, making then freeze together as one. they build a block easier o stay as one.

Peas are normally frozen I.Q.F. or, individually quick frozen. Any time away from sub-zero temps however, will cause them to thaw and then re-freeze. When they thaw, the ice on the outer surface melts and then when they are re-frozen, the resulting ice tends to make them clump together. There's no real harm in it.

if it bothers you alot, there is a way to stop it. try spreading peas out on a cookie sheet and placing them in the freezer for an hour or so. it individually freezes them and the you can place them into a freezer bag and they should stay separated. Good Luck
