Does anybody know what is 'mesmoules'?!
Does anybody know what is 'mesmoules'?
Got this name from a Greek friend. It is a kind of fruits. But I don't exactly what kind of fruit it is.
Answers:
They are also called "mousmoula" or "messpoless" (pronounced MOOssmoola - MEsspolehss) etc.
There are two kinds, either
loquat (Eriobotrya japonica)

medlar (Mespilus germanica)

I'm not sure what kind your friend intended to describe, though.

I am Greek.
Hmm, some fruit, some friend...
(It's 'my mussels' in French. In that sense 'moules' would indeed be 'fruit', i.e. 'fruits de mer'. 'Moule', however, is also something altogether more graphic in argot, or French slang, which I won't publish here...)
"Beware Greeks bearing gifts"..? :-/
All the best.
