Do potatoes count towards your five a day? if so how many? if not why?!

Question:

Do potatoes count towards your five a day? if so how many? if not why?

i dont think they do

Answers:
Potatoes are considered one serving of vegetables, according to the website:
http://www.dole5aday.com
They contain 45 % of the day's vitamin C. They are also a good source of fiber. Many of the vegetables that we eat actually contain carbohydrates, but certainly do not fall into the bread and cereal group.

To quote the site:

"You know, potatoes are an excellent vegetable to help you and your family on your way to 5 a Day. They're nutritious, convenient and best of all delicious! Anyway you prepare them, potatoes taste great! Remember to eat potatoes for an energetic snack!"

No they don't.

Neither do I think they do dear. Normally potatoes are considered as a filler part of the meal, like bread, therefore must be part of the carbohydrate balance of a daily meal. Still good for you!

Potatoes do not count towards your five a day as they are carbohydrates and not veg or fruit.

However, new potatoes with the skin on are good for you- there is vitamin c under the skin and a good source of fibre- so these could do.

no they don't. they are carbohydrates rather than fruit or vegetables. it's a pity really as i eat chips every day, lol.

Well if they've got vitamins, I guess the would count, wouldn't they?
