How long do potatoes last...?!

Question:

How long do potatoes last...?

Answers:
As long as they're not rotten, are still firm and don't smell bad, I'll use them. That's usually around 2-3 weeks depending on how fresh they looked when I bought them.

erm i dont really no sozzy!:(

Not long in my house, I love 'em cooked any way....boiled, mashed, roasted.....lol!

If the potato has not been washed after dug, it will keep significantly longer that one that has been washed. The spud is really good with sprouts until it becomes soft to the touch.

Quite a long time.

about 2-3 days if you keep em in a cool place, after that they go a bit errrrrrrrr

a month

Depending on how you store them that is how long they will last. Your refrigerator is your best option letting the potatoes last the longest. Usually one week or maybe more. Out in the normal air they will be rotten within a week. So keep them refridgerated.

after cooking if not kept in fridge then 5- 8 hours. Uncooked potatoes at least for 15 days.

Depends how fresh they were in the first place. They can last days or weeks. Keep then in cool dark place. I often keep mine in the fridge it extends their life a bit .
If they grow shoots, turn green or don't feel firm, throw them out !!!!

I dont know why people post a response if they dont know the answer!

The answer is....Just like any other food...if the potatoe gets really soft and starts to smell bad then you know it's getting bad...also if it's bad and you boil it, then it will get very hard and you wont be able to smash it as easily and sometimes you can even see a little discoloration, like some yellow and you will see little holes that are sometimes black in the potatoe

You need to keep them in a cool dry dark place this will stop them going soft and green and should last about 3-4 weeks!!!

quite a while i think

It all depends on the type of potato and conditions kept in.
We get all types adn keep them in a dry storage space which is also cool adn dark.In here, they last1-2 wekks on average, however, we throw them out oncethey go squijy, when we see itstarting to sprout green root type things, we gut that bit off and use immediately.
I live in the united kingdom so i guess what isaid may not be of much use to you if you live in say california but yeah, dark, cool, dry spaces!

Depends on what your talking about. After they are cooked, about 3 days in the fridge on any veg.are meat.If you raised your potatoes you can store them in a dark cool place "like under your house or shed"put a little lime sprinkled over them and they can last through the winter. If you buy them from the store expect them to last from 2 to 4 weeks maybe longer if you keep them in a cool dark place.

If you are talking about the ones grown in a garden they can last for a year if they are stored in dry sand in a dark place.

Until they are old!

I have just fallen of my chair

I throw them away only when they are soft to the touch when raw, or are starting to sprout!

Potato keeping quality is determined by temperature, moisture and light. If you keep them cool ideal is 45-50 F), dry, not refrigerated and in the dark, they can last for months. If warm, they will sprout and use up their stored starch to start growth. If left in sunlight, they develope a green color that is quite toxic. Refrigerator temperatures cause starches to turn to sugars. They are not as usable for things like mashed, but don't taste as good--too sweet. If you want to make potato chips or fries, you can refrigerate them for a few hours ahead of time. They will then fry up and be browner and crisper.

1-2 weeks
