Will i gain weight from eating too many nuts?
will i gain weight if i ate a lot of mixed nuts for a snack?
it's basically the only main source of protein i will be eating today.. will it make me gain weight if i ate way over the serving size, for just one day?

Just for one day, no you won't gain weight or you'll gain very little. But if this were part of your regular diet it would cause weight gain because nuts are very high in fat and extremly calorically dense. It might be better to get protein from a leaner (but still healthy) source like eggs or beans.
It depends on the nut. Some nuts like cashews have a high fat and calorie content. But, I think if it's just for one day it won't hurt. Just check out the nutrition facts on the labels
