Should children drink diet soda?!

Question:

Should children drink diet soda?

is it safe for children to drink diet soda?

Answers:
I grew up drinking diet soda, and I was fine. It is probably better than giving them regular soda.

I think if anything is done in moderation either as an adult or child should be pretty safe. My nieces have drank diet soda since the begining and they are fine. Kids do not need the sugar high.

I've read several studies about this and most say that children should not drink diet soda. I can't drink it, either, because the aspartame (artificial sweetener) causes me to have a throw-down migraine within hours of ingesting the soda. Anything that can do that to a person can't be good for kids. Just let them drink regular soda...or better yet, natural fruit juice.

No, it contains aspartame which has been known to cause neroulogical disorders. Let alone that children should not consume soda period. NO one should drink it. Drinks sweetened with splenda are low calorie and have not been shown to cause any definite problems.

I think Its fine its better then regular soda.

But dont have them drink it like nonstop
always have milk and water on hand

no one should drink soda.
Read those ingredients.
Nasty.

No no no no no no no....it is very bad for them.

Aspartame: This chemical is used as a sugar substitute in diet soda. There are over 92 different health side effects associated with aspartame consumption including brain tumors, birth defects, diabetes, emotional disorders and epilispsy/seizures. Further, when aspartame is stored for long periods of time or kept in warm areas it changes to methanol, an alcohol that converts to formaldehyde and formic acid, which are known carcinogens.

No, not according to the medical information that I have read. One article I read said that the carbonation ingredients can affect the formation of strong bone mass in children. The aspartame alone is reason enough to not serve children diet soda.
Teach them by example. A soda once in a while does't hurt. During my childhood we only had soda for a birthday party or a holiday event. We did not develop a habit of keeping soda on hand.
After all, soda is just colored water with flavorings and sweeteners. Very expensive fake water. Soda with sugar is just as bad when you think about it. Calorie laden and no nutritional value.
Each of my children were given water regularly when they were babies. They learned early to develop and enjoy refreshing water.

Water alone is tthe most effective liquid in cleansing our bodies. Anything else needs the digestion process.
Although tea has its redeeming qualities, water is superior.
Juice has it's place in our health plan but is high in calories,
but whole fruit wins!
I believe if we drank the 64 oz. of water a day we would be more healthy by far.

I believe water could help the obese issue in our country. I know many people including children that never drink water. That means almost every thing they drink has calories.
when I get busy and don't have my water like I should I find myself feeling very hungry before lunch (for example). If I think to try some nice cool water the hunger goes away usually. I have more energy also after a nice drink if water.

Sometimes I even feel a bit off my best in my work practice or thinking through difficult problems. Plenty of water acually helps me to think and work better.

I know I write too much, but I hope this is beneficial to us all.

i grew up on the stuff.........so i think its okay.
but wouldn't give alot just like with anything esle

Some diet drinks have phenylalamine and it is not good for kidneys especially kids who are still growing. People are always saying it didn't hurt me, but do not know how to connect causes with illness later in life. But it is your choice.
