Why are Lay's crisps sold under the Walkers brand in the United Kingdom?!

Question:

Why are Lay's crisps sold under the Walkers brand in the United Kingdom?

Answers:
Both Lay (Frita-Lay) and Walkers come under the Pepsico brand here is an interenational explanation from Walkers.

Are Walkers Crisps available internationally?
Walkers Crisps are a brand based only in the UK and the Republic of Ireland on a National basis. Our brands are available internationally, but only through speciality local importers. However, you may have noticed the Banner Sun logo which is used by snack food companies under the Fritolay umbrella. Any products carrying the logo are part of our business group and you can be sure of the same level of commitment and quality of products that you have enjoyed with Walkers Crisps.
