Is it mandatory that restaurants use a FDA approved soap or degreaser?!

Question:

Is it mandatory that restaurants use a FDA approved soap or degreaser?

Can restaurants use a cleaning chemical that is not FDA approved?

Answers:
Well...any chemical that you have in your restaurant must be accompanied by a HAACP sheet. If you cannot produce this sheet, OSHA can fine you $1,000 for each bottle.

Also, you need to check with your local health department. They require some type of anti-bacterial soap or separate sanitizer.

20 years in the restaurant business.

It's MSDS (material safety data sheet) for chemicals, not HACCP. HACCP is for food handling, MSDS is for chemical handling.
