What foods would YOU store away in case of a disaster, and why?!

Question:

What foods would YOU store away in case of a disaster, and why?

Answers:
Canned foods for the obvious reason that they keep for a long time. Also crackers, potatoes, onions, sugar, salt, bottled water. Pretty much anything that has a long shelf life.

nonpreservative foods

canned & dry foods will last a long time

Dried beans, rice, dry noodles (spaghetti, macaroni...) sugar, salt.

If in sealed containers they store well for years.

You should have a supply of these in your cupboard and replenish the supply as you use it. A couple of spare containers of each and you'll have food for a couple of weeks.

Having a propane grill is a good idea too. That way you can cook if there's no power.

Your hot water heater is a reserve of drinking water too.

Keeping non-perishable items are best. This is obviously because they don't expire and you can keep them for long periods of time. Keep some bread, meats, fruit, etc. Keep lots of water. Water is essential. That is so much better than stocking soda and juices.
