Answers:
Some people say it's because eating something sweet will help with the digestion of food. But i'm not sure if that's a fact or just a rumour.

well in europe we do............in holland at least why shouldnt you it's nice to eat something sweet after dinner....and dessert doesnt have to be fat.....you can have a low cal dessert..

I have no idea why and it is a rare occasion when I even eat dessert. I don't think most americans eat dessert on a daily basis.

its good lol :-) but i only eat desert every once in a while, you become over weight if you eat too much and dont excersise and thats not good

they eat dessert because its kinda our religen or something if im not right then its because people want to

Gosh I don't know. I would think it is a habit. I know my parents always said if you don't eat your dinner you can't have dessert. I always had desserts at our table. I was in y early 20' before I realized that people from other countries did not even like the sweet things we take for granted. So I would say it is a developed taste. No wonder we are the fattest nation.

it's good and it's within our reach. we live in an unhealthy society today but if junk food is within our reach isn't healthy food also? yes it is. we make our choices and it's usually whichever one tastes better and you already know the answer to that one. you have to have strong willpower to make the healthier choice.

I think it is just how most Americans are raised, including myself.
