Is Buffalo sauce a barbecue sauce?!
Is Buffalo sauce a barbecue sauce?
I say yes, my boyfriend says no. Which one of us is right?
Answers:
Buffalo sauce is a mixture of melted butter or margarine, hot sauce and a little tabasco. You just toss the deep fried chicken wings in it. I wouldn't consider it a barbecue sauce. Sorry, but I have to side with him on this one.
I have always thought of Buffalo sauce as a BBQ sauce, so I agree with you...maybe its just a matter of oppinion?

How do you define a barbecue sauce?
Something you can put on a piece of something for the grill or smoker?
Buffalo sauce is just hot sauce - traditionally Frank's Red Hot Sauce.
Also, why are you disagreeing with your boyfriend. You're talking about barbecue... by default he is the expert.
So I say your BF is correct.
Buffalo sauce isn't a BBQ sauce. i think its a Marinade. Its just Franks Red Hot and butter
YOU are right. In most instances, Buffalo sauce is just hot sauce. Most times, in restaurants hot sauce and butter mixed together(for the mild sauce). Barbeque sauce is a tomato based sauce with brown sugar and various seasonings.
I have never personally considered it a BBQ sauce - just a hot sauce (I like Lousian myself). But I know of some BBQ sauces that are spicier and advertise themselves as a wing sauce.
Technically no it's not. But it certainly can be if you want to use it as such.
No, Buffalo sauce and traditional BBQ sauce are two different things.
Buffalo sauce is technically hot sauce such as Frank's Hot Sauce or Tabasco sauce mixed with butter to make it more mild.
