No - it's not. Poi is a Hawaiian food made from the tuber of the taro that is cooked, pounded to a paste, and fermented.

Where did you heard this word from ?

You mean Koi - it's like a giant goldfish. Poi is a Hawaiian dish made from taro root.

do you mean KOI?
Koi is fish, but poi is kind of food

Poi is not a fish it is a hawaiin dish made from kalo or otherwise know as taro plant which is cooked and then grounded into a liquid that can be hardened over time. Poi can also be used as a milk substitute and for glue.

Poi is the ground up and cooked root of the taro plant (commonly known as elephant ear). Do not eat raw (my uncle tried it once 'cause he was always told not to, and he told me not to)!

"Koi" means "carp" in Japanese.
