You can actually look up biscuits on wikipedia and get an understanding of what they are. They are, from what I understand, similar to scones. They're fluffy, savoury, warm bread eaten usually split in half as a sandwich, or sometimes just with butter, or jam, or with white gravy poured over them.

The white gravy is either made from sausage or bacon drippings and pieces, mixed with milk and flour. It's usually a breakfast meal, and popular mostly in the American south.

edit. Biscuits can be made from a box or mix, but they're better homemade. Ingredients are generally something like:

* 2 cups all-purpose flour
* 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
* 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 1/4 cup lard or vegetable shortening
* 2 tablespoons butter
* 3/4 cup buttermilk

Check the section on "biscuits in North American usage."

its great food....break open your biscuit and poor gravy on it

i think biscuits in the usa are like a scone we have here in the uk.served with a hot meal

biscuts are bread (rolls sort of) and white gravy usually with sausage chunks in the gravy.
SUPER GOOD

Biscuits and gravy is usually severed during breakfast, some people find it pretty good. But me on the other hand I think its pretty nasty. its also used as a phrase, "Its on like biscuits and gravy" or "Its all good like biscuit and gravy" Get it?

The Biscuits are made from either "Jiffy Mix" or "Bisquick" and you cut them in half. {Like you do an English Muffin} The Gravy is usually "Sausage Gravy" White Sauce with ground up Sausage. Poured over the Biscuit. Some people don't care for it. But I like it with a side order of Two Eggs, over easy. A Great Breakfast Idea.

We call scones biscuits and biscuits cookies here in the US. I don't know how that happened.
Our scones are usually savory as opposed to sweet and we eat them with a meat entree that has a gravy and put the gravy on top or over split scones/biscuits.
I never make my scones/biscuits from a mix (as that man answered).
We don't usually use heavy cream for the fat content though. We add vegetable shortening. It's chemically the same concept though.

I gather that you're not from the South(or America)?
Biscuit is a type of side item, like bread, that goes with many
southern home-cooked meals such as fried chicken, beef roast, pork chops, etc. The "gravy" part is a white(flour,salt/pepper,and sausage drippings) sausage-based thick liquid that is poured over a biscuit that is split open into halves.
It's usually served at breakfast. You should try it!
