I'm guessing you're kidding because that's just way to easy to type into Google... which corrects spelling errors.

No "e" unless they are plural

Drop the e at all times.

You drop the e if you are talking about one potato or tomato.
If it is in the plural ( more than one) add the es. ex. tomatoes or potatoes.

it is tomato and potato. people get confused because the plural is tomatoEs and potatoEs and so they think that the "E" is supposed to be there, just like when Dan Quail misspelled it years ago.
