What is a good side dish to go along with beef stew?!

Question:

What is a good side dish to go along with beef stew?

Answers:
You already have lots of veggies in the stew, so you can serve a lettuce/tomato salad and some home-made cornbread. Put a half a can of corn (drained) and some shredded cheese in the cornbread You can toss the other half the can of corn into your stew. Yum.

cornbread. I think bread is always a good side for any soups or stews! Good luck finding a good side with your stew...

How about some roast potatoes?
Yorkshire puddings?
Broccoli and cauliflower

Beer

A heaping helping of steak, with all the baked in, juicy goodness of the meat of a cow that was once living, but isn't anymore.

I didn't know you made side dishes w/ stew. There is so much inside who needs a side dish. Maybe bread or something to dip in.

Seconds!

Maybe a garlic bread, Corn muffin,,,,or Cole Slaw

Make a bowl of slaw and some Mexican Cornbread. Tastes great together!

this isn't really a side dish but cornbread or dinner rolls or crackers is always good with beef stew.

Either Mexican cornbread, or broccoli cornbread. There is so much in the stew that a good hardy bread should finish it up nicely.

the best side dish i found is good warm buttermilk bisuts. and a crispy dessert.

potatoes , and bread to soak up the gravey,

a vegetarian dish. not a salad but you could choose anything from spinach to eggplant as long as you come up with a good recipe. I know one but don't know if you've heard of it. Its called palak paneer. That's spinach paste and I think cottage cheese mixed together. Tastes amazing. You could look for the recipe somewhere.

I love making either plain or fancy rice dish to go with beef stew. If you want to make your rice look more interesting a cheap version of saffron rice involves adding tumeric before cooking and you will have interesting yellow rice.
If you aren't a rice fan then damper goes fantastic. If you dont know what damper is, it is an Australian doughy bread that is extremely simple to make and tastes yummy especially with stew. Yummy.... now i want to go and eat stew :D

Without a doubt, toasted French Loaf or Crispy Croissant or like us Asians, we'll go with white rice.

Beef stew is a hearty enough meal that you don't usually have a side with it, other than maybe some type of bread. I like a crusty french bread to dip it in the stew.

I go for red cabbage cooked with apples, Cinnamon and a bit of honey. and potato's or rice....

Plain, fluffy white rice or parsley egg noodles

Damper, hot fresh out of the oven (or fire if you have one), maybe a herb or cheese damper. Rustic goes with stew I reckon.

I can't believe nobody's mentioned it so far! DUMPLINGS!!
The absolute best side to go with a hearty beef stew. I'm of Irish heritage, and beef stew is very rarely seen without delicious dumplings over there.
They are fairly simple to make or if you're a bit lazy, then many grocery stores sell them ready made or a pack that you just add water to.
The dumplings just add that certain magical ingrediant and help to make the stew taste superb. I can't quite describe how they taste, as it's quite a unique taste. You'll just have to try them for yourself. You won't regret it.
And another nice touch is some freshly baked and crusty French bread (baguette), which is great for soaking up the last remains of the gravy.
Here's a link on a great beef stew and dumplings recipe.

Hope you try them!

defiantly a good potato dumpling as it is not really starchy like potato and has a light texture like bread dough but don't let that put you off as it always goes down really well!
YUM YUM!
