Can eating spicy food make you blind?!

Question:

Can eating spicy food make you blind?

Answers:
IF it did... I'd been blind a long time ago....

No, It doesn't.

No

wtf no

Maybe if you put it in your eye.
No, spicy food cannot make you blind. I promise.

Goodness!! I would be in need of a cane and a seeing eye dog if that were the case! Bring on the jalapenos and chile!

Not that I know of. Persons of mexican decent eat spicey foods and I don't think there are many more that are blind, just as the Eastern Indians with curry, or others.

I was raised in New Orleans and have always eaten spicy foods as have all my relatives. No one is blind in the family.
Just keep it out of your eyes!

I doubt it. But do keep it out of your eyes

no thats that other thing you do in the bathroom that will make you go blind and grow hair on the palm of your hand

Ah, Nope.

Whoever told you that is a moron!!!!!

Spicy food can actually be good for you!!!!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA... im sorry but ive never heard such a stupid question in my whole life! please tell me where you heard this from????

If you are unaccustomed to eating spicey food, it can make your eyes water. If you are eating peppers, and for any reason the juice gets into you eyes, it can temporarily blind you. This is the idea behind pepper spray.
Often when eating a hot pepper as a finger food, such as the jalapeno peppers provided with pizzas, you eyes will water and you will absent-mindedly rub you eyes with the same hand that was handling the pepper, getting the juice in you eyes. The irritation is relieved by closing you eyes.Ther irritation clears up after several minutes.
Actually, the more you eat spicy food, the less likey you are to be temporarily blinded by pepper spray. Research has shown that capsicum, the chemical that makes peppers hot, interacts with a chemical in the body to produce the hot effect. eating lots of hot peppery foods will partially deplete this chemical, and asa result, the peppers will be less hot. I don't know if this aslo applies to horseradish or wasabi.

NO! Who told you that?

I am 40, eat spicy spicy food, and my eyesight is perfect.

No, but it does make you have a runny nose for a while.
