cheesey baked beans on toast .simple

My little brother loves "COWBOY BEANS"
brown and drain 1 lb. ground beef, 1/2 lb. crispy fried bacon, mix in half cup salsa, 2 tbsp brown sugar, 1 large can baked beans. Heat thoroughly- SERVE!

Take a can of baked beans. Chop up some onions and green peppers, add to beans. Cook on stove top until onions and peppers are soft, add some brown sugar(taste and add what you think it needs). You can add bacon if you want, but don't have to.

Here in Canada we have a few producers of Navy beans cooked like the kidney beans and chickpeas you find in the stores, I have bought them and used them as you stated, I would imagine as the label says "Product of USA", they would be available in your supermarkets.

I generally saute onions and chopped bacon, use the fat for flavour, and then add brown sugar, molasses, tomato sauce, ketchup and spices, my favorites are allspice, garlic and onion powder, dry mustard and a little pepper, I leave the salt until the end, once it is in you cannot take it out.

Let them slow cook in a crock pot if you have one or in a 300 degree oven for 60-90 minutes. I am a former chef and did make them from scratch many times but these pre-cooked Navy Beans are a real help if in a pinch.

If you are using canned Baked Bean just add some diced bacon, a finely diced onion, and some chili powder.
All you would need to do is heat and eat.
Serve on toast with a fried egg on top
